Platte County Democrats Believe the Missouri Voters are the True Winners with Missouri Supreme Court Decisions

PLATTE COUNTY, MISSOURI —Thursday, September 3rd the Missouri Supreme Court handed down major victories for Missouri Voters.

The Missouri Supreme Court unanimously ruled voters will decide in November on the Missouri
Legislature’s 2025 gerrymandered Congressional map. Missouri voters will now decide the issue in a referendum, Proposition A, and can reject the legislature’s map with a “NO” vote. The Court also ruled the Congressional districts used in Missouri’s August primary cannot be used in the November 3rd general election.

The second decision handed down by the Missouri Supreme Court ordered Amendment 6 on the November ballot. The “Respect Mo Voters” amendment would protect the initiative petition process and limit the Legislature’s ability to rewrite laws and constitutional amendments already approved by voters.

Platte County Democratic Central Committee Chair, Joe Schwarz summarized yesterday’s rulings, “Missouri voters should choose their representatives. Politicians should not be choosing their voters. The Supreme Court’s decisions are an important reminder that no political party is above the Constitution or the voice of the people. Missouri Republicans may control Jefferson City, for now, but they do not get to control democracy,”

Platte County Democrats celebrate these rulings and the opportunity for Missouri voters to have their voices heard in November.
